Learning From Synthetics
Artificial intelligence training for the faculty teacher of the interior architecture programme at HEAD – Genève
Session report
S1 AI Fundamentals
Presentation of the foundations of artificial intelligence, from its historical origins to its contemporary generative forms. The session introduces the operating logics, systemic biases, and critical issues associated with these technologies.
Slide iciS2 (text) to image
Getting started with MidJourney to explore the basics of image generation: prompt structure, iteration logic, variations, and visual hybridization. A hands-on session featuring demonstrations and guided exercises.
S3 Panorama of services
Mapping of AI tools available to architects: image, plan, and rendering generation, automated design platforms, etc. The focus is on uses and potential, without aiming for technical mastery.
S4 Supervised generation
Exploration of tools enabling enhanced control over generative outputs. Hands-on work with ControlNet, Krea, or ComfyUI, in connection with other formats (plans, 3D, video, data analysis).
S5 Teaching and pratice
Reflection on the role of AI in architectural education: transformation of pedagogical approaches, evolution of legitimization criteria, and presentation of current practices by artists or designers integrating AI.
Slide iciS6 Applied Protocol
Synthesis workshop aimed at formulating a protocol for AI use tailored to one’s own practice. Each participant develops an application scenario (course, project, workflow), followed by a collective sharing session.
